
Jacob Bascom - 2020
Jacob Bascom plans to attend North Central Michigan College this fall for Computer Aided Design (CAD). In his free time, Jacob enjoys ATV four wheeling, camping, jet skiing, hunting, woodworking, and welding. In school he was actively involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, the Golf team, and he volunteered frequently all throughout high school. He also received regional and state awards for the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society (MITES) competition, and he made honor roll 9th-12th grade.


Nick Wilson - 2020
Nick Wilson plans to attend Owens Community College for John Deere Technician. Nick grew up on a small farm, and he demonstrated a "farm life work ethic" at school, as one of his teacher's stated. Nick has participated in a variety of vocational programs offered at EJ Public Schools, including woodworking and welding for three years and Boyne City's Linesman Program his senior year. He competed in a welding competition, the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society (MITES) competition (earning an award at the regional level), and an underwater robotics competition at Alpena High School.
Zane Aho - 2022
Zane Aho plans to attend North Central Community College to pursue a career in nursing, with the eventual goal of joining Doctors Without Borders. Zane is described by his mentors as passionate, inquisitive, hard-working, intelligent, caring, and compassionate. They also described him as being someone who is self-confident, has a curious intellect, and a sense of adventure. Zane's application stood out because he took the time to interview a community member who knew Andrew and make the connections with Andrew's values and his own.


Garrett Wilson - 2022
Garrett Wilson plans to attend North Central Community College to pursue a career in Natural Resources Management. Garrett has been involved in multiple extracurricular activities related to his career path including the Michigan DNR Youth Conservation Council, shadowing with fisheries, participation in the Watershed Academy, and working at Jordan Valley Outfitters. Garrett wants to learn more about how to protect, preserve, and responsibly manage natural resources - like our beautiful and pristine Jordan River.
Faith Murray - 2023
Faith plans to attend North Central Michigan College to pursue psychology. Faith was in the National Honor Society (NHS) and Editor and Chief of her journalism class. Faith was described by her teacher as inquisitive, respectful, patient, trustworthy, and an observant listener. ”She is truly an empath, and uses this power for good in all aspects of life.”


Hilary Buell - 2023
Hilary plans to attend WyoTech for Diesel Mechanics and High Performance Trains. Hilary was selected by the Career Technical Education (CTE) as student of the month. Her prior employer described her as “a very confident individual and has set some good goals for herself, and I have no doubt that she will achieve them.”
Justin McCully - 2024
Justin McCully plans to attend Kirtland Community College to pursue his career of automotive repair and welding and own a business. Justin’s automotive instructor describes him as being one of the best workers in his class. “I can count on Justin to complete the job that I assign him, and he also helps his fellow students complete their jobs.”


Samuel Wilson - 2024
Samuel plans to continue to pursue his career as a lineman. During his senior year, he was able to complete a Lineworker Career and Technical Education (CTE) course. Samuel’s instructor described him as attentive, eager, and with great aptitude. He stated “Sam is an inquisitive student whose motivation and attitude drives him to look to and accept new opportunities and challenges.”
Luciano Raona - 2025
Luciano plans to attend Michigan Technological University to study material science engineering. Luciano is certified in welding and has completed multiple impressive personal and EJ community projects. Luciano was also the videographer for the varsity football team. His welding teacher stated “Luc is an excellent welder, fabricator, and student. With his skills and positive attitude I’m sure that Luc will have a bright future.”
